Staff Spotlight:

Kathy Sadler

Head of Marketing & Communications

This month, we grabbed a quick coffee with Kathy and got the latest scoop on all things marketing and events at Qualification Check, plus a few new product teasers that we're gearing up for as we head into the next financial year.

You’re celebrating three years at Qualification Chec (QC) in April, how would you summarise your time with us so far?

A learning curve. QC has matured a great deal in three years. Our systems, public profile, product range, and markets have all evolved in that time, so we adapt constantly to those changes.

QC’s culture has remained the same though, and that consistency provides a foundation on which to base everything else.

What does a normal day in the office look like for the Marketing team?

We normally start the day with a marketing call to review work in progress, ideas from different departments, approaching deadlines, and ensuring that expectations are being met. Then I deal with anything that has come in overnight, before working on key projects and events.

We’re enhancing our CRM system for the coming year, and building a busy calendar of events, as well as releasing several new products and addressing new markets, so 2024 will be a very busy year!

Your marketing efforts cover many sectors – what common messages do you communicate about QC’s solutions regarding academic fraud?

We deliver trustworthy, global, primary source verification. Our customers must be able to rely on the information we provide, regardless of why they need it, so our credentials in terms of security, accuracy and customer satisfaction are fundamental.

You attend and sponsor plenty of industry events, particularly those focused on international student recruitment – what have been the main takeaways from these recent events?

The market for verification has changed significantly following the pandemic. Our customers are keen to link academic and professional licence verification, to digital identities and financial checks. The fraudsters grow ever more sophisticated and we need to offer our customers every support in countering their efforts.

Qualification Check has some new product launches coming this year – what can our customers expect?

We are enhancing our educational offering by adding educational referencing and financial viability checks. Linking our existing checks to Digital ID and English language qualifications will be equally important integrations.

What do you usually get up to outside of work?

I like to keep fit so I run, practice martial arts, and shoot clays. That and a general love of the outdoors keeps me busy!

The PIE Live Europe 2024 & other events

Our 2024 events calendar is looking set to be our busiest year yet!

Last week, Qualification Check attended The PIE Live Europe 2024 at The Brewery in London.

Phil Dupont, Senior Solutions Manager, said: "This was our first time attending this event and it was great to engage with so many people across the HE sector over the two days. It’s always useful to hear about the challenges that the education sector is facing and how we are trying to find solutions together."

Other springtime events we will be attending include:

  • SROC24, University of Leeds (UK), 3-5 April
  • ENIC NORTH 2024 Conference, Glasgow (UK), 30 April
  • UCAS Conference, Winsdor (UK), 20-21 May
  • PBSA Europe Summit 2024, Amsterdam (NL), 21 May

Public holidays & business disruptions

  • Good Friday (29 March) and Easter Monday (1 April) are both public holidays and are celebrated in over 95 countries.
  • Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) have commenced a 7-day warning strike from Tuesday 26 March.
  • Eid Al Fitr (end of Ramadan) will take place 9 - 10 April and is celebrated by many Islamic communities worldwide.
  • India's national election period will run from 19 April - 4 June. University staff operating campus polling stations may result in verification delays across the country.
  • May bank holidays in the UK fall on Monday 6 May and Monday 29 May.

The above dates may affect TATs for high school and university verification requests. As always, we will continue to ensure your verification requests are checked and cleared as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.
