Happy New Year!

Energy is valuable. Fortunately, systems consisting of modern LED components and smart lighting controls can save a considerable amount of energy. What’s more, smart lighting management systems also support comfort and well-being – especially in the workplace. New products are making it increasingly easy to retrofit offices with smart, connected lighting solutions – simple, economical and involving minimal construction work.

For example, a new product series from Tridonic allows office luminaires to be networked using the SWARM function, by simply clicking D4i-certified plug-and-play modules onto the luminaires, which can then communicate with each other within the room. The SWARM function detects desks that are occupied and activates low-level lighting at the nearest workstations, saving energy and helping occupants feel more comfortable in the otherwise empty room.

Networking made easy
 

It’s getting easier and easier to network devices. The Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) recently introduced Matter, a new protocol that enables various devices connected to each other, such as luminaires, locks, Venetian blinds, loudspeakers, thermostats, etc., to interoperate. Matter will allow users to control the light not only in familiar surroundings but also in an unfamiliar hotel room, for example. This is guaranteed by the member companies of the CSA, which include many well-known manufacturers.

Tridonic is also a member and actively shares its lighting management expertise with the rest of the CSA. We are already developing modules that will make DALI lighting Matter-compatible – another step closer to our goal of using the interoperability of our products to help partners and customers to create new opportunities.
